Born and raised in the small city of Aberdeen, South Dakota Richard Banker dreamed of being a musician from a very young age. He won 1st place in a talent show at age 5 singing She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain with his sister Crissy on piano. It was seeing the Ritchie Valens film La Bamba that solidified young Richie Banker’s dreams of guitar playing, singing, and song writing. Though he took guitar lessons along with piano and violin he did not take being a musician seriously until later in life. After high school Richard attended Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado. During his senior year at CSU Richard signed with the Donna Baldwin agency in Denver and set out for LA after graduation. Richard spent 10 years in Hollywood playing small roles on TV and a lead role in the indie film Good Mourning, Lucille. Around 5 years into his pursuit of acting he started singing and writing country songs. He played country music to rock crowds at the Viper Room on Sunset and many other LA venues until March of 2020 when the world stopped. No longer having a place to live in LA on September 1st, 2020 he set out for Texas with $300, a cheap guitar and his songs. He landed on a lifelong friend’s couch/floor in Weatherford, Texas. Richard started playing shows in town then moved on to Granbury, Hico, Stephenville, and Ft. Worth. After a second small tour of North Texas he decided to check out Austin before heading back to California. His first stop was the Broken Spoke. Miss Terri White was kind enough to let him sing a few songs and he never left. He continued to cut his teeth at Austin staples the Broken Spoke, Poodies, and Donn’s Depot with Chris Gage. Richard is currently working with Chris on his debut album. With new Texas inspired songs to go along with his cosmic country repertoire he continues to expand throughout Texas and beyond…
