Richard Banker plays danceable country with a touch of rock that’s right at home in the neon

glow of Austin’s honky tonks. His live show ranges from swirling two-steps and tender waltzes to

fast-lane groovers like Highway to Texas and King of Corrales.

Landing in Austin with $300 and his songs, Banker quickly began to cut his teeth in dancehalls

like the Broken Spoke and Donn’s Depot where he began sitting in and working with fellow

South Dakota native Chris Gage (Jerry Jeff Walker, Jimmie Dale Gilmore). Driven by Gage’s

tragic passing in 2025, Banker linked with producer Ted Russell Kamp (Shooter Jennings,

Tanya Tucker) to record a collection of songs inspired by Texas and it’s songwriting greats like

Kris Kristofferson, Guy Clark, and Willie Nelson.

The first release; Highway to Texas (fall 2026), lives somewhere between the Black Crowes and
